Loneliness Awareness Week: 15 - 21 June 2026
We all feel lonely at times - it's a natural human emotion. We're biologically wired for social contact, and loneliness is our signal that we need more.
The definition: Loneliness is a perceived mismatch between the quality or quantity of social connections that a person has and what they would like to have.
Everyone's experiences of loneliness are different. It's subjective and personal to each of us.

Telephone Counselling is as Effective as Face-to-Face
A recent research study indicates that, "...similar clinical outcomes can be achieved via the telephone as are obtained in face-to-face [therapy]".
Furthermore, the alliance between therapist and client, as well as levels of empathy, attentiveness, participation and openess, are equivalent as in face-to-face therapy.
(Irvine et al; Journal of Affective Disorders; 15 March 2020)
For convenience I can offer telephone counselling sessions, as necessary and where appropriate, having completed specialist telephone training.
